mobsync subs, security

Is there a trick to use mobsync at user level security? We have to set winxp
users to power user to allow the subscriptions to show up in sync manager...
Anyone know the individual folder/file permissions to set?

you restrict security to pull subscriptions in the pal at the account or
group level.
To do this right click on your publication and select publication properties
and go to the security tab. Enter the accounts or groups here.
Group membership is the way to administer large numbers of users.

subscription if the security level of the logged in winxp user is Users
(works of member of power users or administrators)
we want to lock these machines down (it replicated sales force db) & want to
avoid users being power users +...

subscriptions listed to pull?
If they don't show up here, are they local, ie on the local machine?
What happens if you click on the "To select a subscription select this and
then click properties" and then enter the publication and subscription stuff
manually?

Mixed Security Mode for MSDE?

Hi all... MSDE installs with pure Windows Security. Can it be
reconfigured to use mixed security? Does somebody know how this can be
done?
I have tried it using Enterprise Manager in a scenario where that tool
was availeable due to presence of SQL 2K Standard, however, MSDE did
not accept a configuration change to mixed security mode.
Somebody's got a clue?

after modifying the Security mode via EM, you have to restart the server...

Mixed mode security on XP

Hi,
I am trying to get a demo going on an XP laptop.
To do this I am trying to set Authentication on the server Security tb to
"SQL Server and Windows".
Changing this setting is not sticking. IE I make the change, click OK, check
and the change is gone. If I restart SQL Server, the change is not there.
HELP!

Mixed mode security

Hello all,
I'm trying to modify the security setting for a local install to m ake
it mixed mode, but in the SQL Server properties window I select SQL
Server and Windows then press OK, but the window doesn't close and it
won't let me save the settings. Why is this? Can anyone help?

The sql box is part of a NT Domain. We ran a select statement from the sql
box from sys logins where password is null. It produced a list of Domain ID

with null passwords. So the questions is, could I use a domain id from a
non-trusted connection to attach to the database?
Does this make sense?

Yes. If the same username and password is duplicated on the non-trusted

Missing toggle images in matrix report

I have two Matrix reports located in seperate folders. The reports work fine, the toggle(+/-) images show up correctly. But when I add role security to the folders to limit access, the toggle images no longer show up, just the missing image(Red X). Any ideas on what I may be missing?

Ok, seems the problem is with the <authorization> element in the web.config file. Changed it form <deny users="*"> to <deny users="?"> and my toggle images started working. Seems to be a security problem for the builtin resource file on the matrix report.
